Sports

Special Olympics Indiana-Gibson County offers year-round training and competition in five sports:

In addition to these sports, we are now offering a new, non-competitive sport as a winter activity - PEP CLUB! It is a new way to get our athletes moving and it's lots of fun.

The goal is to continue to add sports as participation and interest allow.

Athletic Participation

Special Olympics is open to individuals ages eight and up with intellectual disabilities. Once registered by completing an application and medical form, athletes participate under the supervision of certified coaches in eight weeks of training before competing in local, area, and state events.

While athletes (or their families) are normally responsible for transportation to practice, the local program provides uniforms and equipment. Transportation may also be provided. There is no fee to participate in Special Olympics.

If you would like to know if your family is eligible to participate in Special olympics, please visit the Indiana Special Olympics web site to take an eligibility test.
